About The Debt Recovery Expert
After completing a Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Practice in 1998 I worked in the not-for-profit sector, advising local authority tenants on how to deal with their debts. From there I commenced a training contract with a local legal aid practice, again advising clients with housing and debt related issues. It was during this time I became a home owner and needed to boost my income and upon qualification moved to a medium sized commercial practice where I stayed for 5 years. My clients included housing associations, building societies and residential and commercial landlords, a ‘poacher turned gamekeeper’ if you like. In 2007 I moved practices in order to reduce the dreaded commute, and stayed at this local high street practice until July 2009 when I incorporated Mercian Law Limited. Being at my last practice enabled me to learn all the necessary skills to start my own practice and they have remained very supportive to date, offering me a sounding board and the occasional referral.
Since qualification I have encountered and experienced most types of practice and have to say that nothing compares to having your own business. Since incorporation in 2009 Mercian Law Limited has been a labour of love, with new clients being referred to me from both old and new contacts, growing organically at a comfortable pace, ensuring all clients are given the correct amount of time and attention. I love the new business development element of practice and trying to be innovative and putting my practice ahead of my competitors.
I hope that Mercian Law Limited continues to develop building a sustainable practice for the future.
